Why won't she GO AWAY! She's like a zombie from a horror movie. You think she is done but no, she just comes back again.

She pissed me off when one of her supporters bashed Obama's fans as latte drinking, hybrid buying yuppies. As a latte drinking, hybrid driving yuppie I decided that she clearly didn't want my vote. So, screw her.

This weekend I discovered that my brother, a bastion of liberalism, will vote for McCain if The Hillz get the democratic nomination. At first I was AGAHST. Now I think he might be wise. Well, except for the voting for McCain part.

Every day lately I just WISH SHE WOULD GO AWAY. All she is doing is hurting the party & our chances at true change by not dropping out. Because she cannot get over herself or her ego.

I like "While there are exceptions, of course, to this rule, general experience indicates that “husky” girls — those who are just a little on the heavy side — are likely to be more even-tempered and efficient than their underweight sisters."

So it's my chubbiness that makes me courteous and cooperative. I'm glad they cleared that up for me.

Stacie, that is an intriguing point, and one that hasn't entirely escaped me. We're raising our children to believe in God, my agnosticism aside, but since most of what they'll get will likely be Buddhist thought and spirituality, I suppose the in laws will have to find ways to adjust to and respect us as well.

Last year at Easter the priest shook holy water on me and I might have been baptised by accident. At least, I think it was Easter. I don't pay a lot of attention because the Catholic mass just doesn't move me very much.

What is interesting to me about your story is that you are working hard to respect the religious beliefs of people who don't seem to feel at all compelled to return the favor. How aggravating.

We have these same issues. Now that we don't have contact with my father it is less of an issue. My dad is a great one for trying to shove religion (esp HIS religion) down your gullet. Michael's mom & sister, while both very Catholic (mostly his mom) are really very mellow about it. So it's not an issue at all. In fact, MIL is sooooo cool about it that we are actually gonna take D to mass while we are visiting so she can show him off. It'll be his first time in church. He will be fine. I might burst into flames ;)

Wow.

It still amazes me that people can think that loving, consensual relationships betwen adults somehow equate to a pernicious canker or that the people involved are inherently devalues by where they find love. I realize that this sort of bigotry is not just tolerated, but valued and encouraged in some groups, but what a sad world it is when this sort of tripe is spouted off as reality.

When I hear things like this, it makes me wonder...where does the fear come from for these people? What does this woman, for example, think will happen if gay people have an equal say in things, or just become too visible in her world? That's what I really don't get. I think all of the -isms are really about fear of losing something, probably power and status.
